沙土 - SaTO -
「沙」という文字には、
水で悪いものを洗い流して
良いものを残すという意味がある
自然の土で形を作り、削って、
不要なものを省き、必要なものを残して、
これだと思う形を追求して
形にしていきたい
The word "沙(Sa)" means to wash away bad things
with water and leave good things.
"土(To)" means Soil.
Forming shapes with natural clay, carving it,
eliminating what is unnecessary and keeping what is essential,
pursuing the shape that feels right,
and shaping it into form.
